Must Read Monday: Fractions, Decimals, and Percents

Hopefully you get past the title of the book. Doesn’t sound very exciting does it? Fractions, Decimals, and Percents as a fun children’s book? Yes. If there is one thing I still don’t understand very well as an adult (which is numerous things) it is fractions, decimals, and percents. It was so very confusing to me in school. If only I had had this book when I was a child… but I didn’t. Luckily for my kids, they do get to read it.

Also a fun website I discovered is If you select fractions you get to learn fractions by seeing slices of pizza. Afterward, you’ll probably have to have pizza for supper. It is kind of like the If You Give a Mouse a Cookie book. If you teach your child fractions using pictures of pizza… description:

Step right up! Come take part in the county fair, where you’ll see fractions,
decimals, and percents everywhere. Gobble up a fraction of pie, boost your
batting average in the arcade,
and take a percent off the price of a toy.
Learning about equivalent parts equals a whole lot of fun in this
straightforward introduction to a challenging concept.

  2. You’re right, the title sounds boring but the cover is sooo cute! Sounds the contents are pretty fun, too.
