Must Read Monday: Don’t Let the Pigeon Drive the Bus!

For those who don’t know author Mo Willems, you are missing out. His books make real life issues into hilarious children’s books. Don’t Let the Pigeon Drive the Bus is about learning how to say no. Your child knows he is not supposed to drive your car if he is seven years old, but wonder if a neighbor kid comes over and tells him to drive it.

Neighbor kid: I think you should back your mom’s car out of the garage.

Your child (if he hasn’t read the book): Sure, what a great idea.

Now let’s try it after reading the book.

Neighbor kid: I think you should back your mom’s car out of the garage.

Your child: NO!

See the difference? If anything, this book will save your garage door’s life.

Amazon.com description:

The Pigeon REALLY wants to drive the bus.
Will you let him?
Finally, a really big book you can say “no” to!

  1. We’re “past” this book in terms of reading level, but oh, my goodness how we LOVE the pigeon!
The site is great, Mel, I’m linking it to my “Resources” and “Other Blogs” page over at The Pie Factory.

    1. I very much appreciate that! Thank you!
